ABOUT ARTSNATIONAL Newcastle

ADFAS Newcastle

ArtsNational Newcastle: connecting people with the arts, and each other.

Each year ArtsNational Newcastle offers nine evening lectures on the arts. Speakers are specialists from Australia and the UK.  After each lecture we come together with the lecturer for conversation and light refreshments.

Twice a year there are two morning lectures with morning tea (ticketed events) and on occasion we offer special events.

Members and guests are always welcome.

We also support arts projects and initiatives in our region.  The Young Arts program provides grants to local youth arts groups.  The School of Arts team researches the stories behind our local iconic School of Arts and Mechanic’s Institute buildings.  One Church Recording – the story of a local church – has been completed.  Most recently we have entered into an agreement with the Hunter TAFE Foundation to provide a 3-year sponsorship of the Reg Russom Memorial Drawing Prize.

Our work over thirty years was recognised in 2020 when ArtsNational Newcastle (then ADFAS Newcastle) was awarded the Marsh Award for International Arts Society Committee of the Year by The Arts Society in the UK.

In 2024 ArtsNational Newcastle was registered as the trading name of ADFAS Newcastle.
